What Will I Do? How Do I Start? Who Volunteers at After Strokers? Must I Commit to a Schedule?
ONLY A VOLUNTEER CAN DO IT

Imagine for a moment how much voluntary help means if you are the recipient. Much more than paid help! Imagine how you feel about someone who is there for one reason: they want to help. Now you know how important volunteers are to people going through difficult times in their lives.

Welcome, volunteers!
You could be a big help to a little organization. You are our fuel. Your kindness is the spark that starts a bonfire of meaning and connection for a Stroke Survivor or Caregiver.

Since we rely on donations for the majority of our budget, the gift of time and human kindness is one of our greatest resources here at After Strokers! Your volunteer time matters!

WHAT WILL I DO?

As a volunteer for After Strokers, you can take on any of these roles, and more!

  • Decorator — Decorate the Sage Room for the week's theme (James Bond, Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, International Day, ...).
  • Greeter — Sign people in and hand them their nametag, chat and make them feel welcome.
  • Server — Serve snacks and beverages if someone needs a little extra help, clean up their table when they're done.
  • Classroom Aide — Assist the Re-Learning teacher in working with the members, or passing out props and crafts.
  • Companion — Talk and connect with our members, provide that human spark and maybe a kind handshake that we all need so much.

HOW DO I START?

Visit our Contact Us page and let us know you're interested! We'd love to have you. Your participation will make a difference in someone else's life, and your own.

WHO VOLUNTEERS AT AFTER STROKERS?

Retirees
Teachers
Students (need volunteer hours on your record?)
Nurses
Anyone interested in being a friend and making a friend.
Men and women, children accompanied by a guardian, even babies and pets can help brighten a room.

MUST I COMMIT TO A SCHEDULE?

No, we welcome volunteers once in a while, or every week, for just an hour or all morning! Your participation is entirely up to you.
